The snow globe

In the era of systematic recycling and omnipresent biodegradable, it would seem that our environment is not as idyllic as it should be.

The pace of our hectic lives has perhaps made us forget two essential factors that govern natural cycles: number and time. Thus, an object that is theoretically biodegradable will remain present in the environment for the time of its alteration. Before this time, an object of the same type appears and the object becomes apparently permanent, since it is systematically replaced before its end of life.

The “snow globe” wants to bear witness to this state of affairs and draws up an assessment of what exists today. The Eiffel Tower is thus represented surrounded by “snow” representing a selection of waste found at its foot on December 29, 2015.
The project is structured around a video (made in stop motion) and an image intended to be exhibited in very large format (the image is 270 Mpx and can thus be printed in 2.4 m high at 200 dpi and thus allows to read the brands and inscriptions on the packaging).

The video was presented at the Transizioni Due festival in Bergamo at the end of March 2017 and at the Klap Klap festival in Nancy in 2023.
